A Delaware native, Brown received her BFA from
Wittenberg University in 1970, then continued studying
architecture and graphic design at the Rhode Island School
of Design for an additional two and a half years, and the
Colorado Institute of Art for a year.
She has worked as an architectural draftsman, art director, and graphic designer, and is a mother and grandmother (coming up in May, 08!). In 2002 she decided to concentrate solely on oil painting.
“Painting is such a wonderful journey. I'm just getting started. I enjoy all mediums, but my work shown on this website is all in oil, my favorite. I'm fortunate to live in an area so rich in the fine arts. This Bucks County region has attracted so many outstanding artists because of its great beauty and history. Working with them has truly been inspirational. I also travel alot with my husband, Ted. We love to hike and bike everywhere, and I'm rarely without my digital camera, ready to capture that interesting light on a subject. I prefer to start my landscapes outside, but I almost always finish them in my studio."
Brown has studied the chiaroscuro lighting of the Still Life with Frank Arcuri and David Leffel, portraiture with James Himsworth III, and the figure in the landscape with HongNian Zhang in New York.
